SYNOPSIS
Selected by the Film Editors Branch.
Investment banker Jeff Daniels finds his life turned upside down when he meets free-spirited Melanie Griffith, but their wild and romantic ride takes a dark turn when her sinister ex-boyfriend (Ray Liotta) enters the picture. Oscar winner Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) directed the lively screenplay by E. Max Frye (Foxcatcher), and the work of Demme’s long-time editor, two-time Oscar nominee Craig McKay (Reds), was a key factor in balancing the film’s unpredictable mix of sexy fun and genuine menace.
The Branch Selects program is made possible in part by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Program in Public Understanding of Science and Technology.
Academy Museum film programming is generously funded by the Richard Roth Foundation.
