John Chambers won the second-ever Honorary Award for makeup for his remarkable prosthetics that turned actors Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, and Maurice Evans into talking apes for this witty science-fiction classic, which starred Charlton Heston as a cynical astronaut who finds himself marooned on a planet where mankind is the lower species.
