Eye-popping 70mm, thunderous Dolby Atmos and Cinema worth celebrating

“A hothouse combination of classic cinema and popcorn entertainment, the series hopes to marry a nostalgic, historic setting with Dolby Atmos to make even beloved films a new discovery.”
-Sarah Shachat, IndieWire

The Super-Sonic film event of the season - now Super-Sized with MORE 70mm and MORE Atmos and MORE audio-obsessive cinema: Now featuring 48 screenings of 29 films from Sept 1-24! (Sorry, no fries with that…)

The greatest movies resonate most deeply when we can surrender ourselves to their enormous image and roaring sound. The Paris, NYC’s iconic, longest-running arthouse theater and Manhattan’s sole single-screen cinema, can now provide the city’s best cinematic presentation with our newly installed Dolby Atmos sound. With over 500 seats, the Paris is the largest Atmos cinema in Manhattan.

With BIG & LOUD, we’re matching that premiere presentation with a slate of our favorite movies: the ones that can provide a transcendent experience for viewers in an immersive theatrical environment. Presenting 70mm (for the first time in 15 years), Atmos-mixed features and films about the sonically-obsessed, we’re excited to show off the unique capabilities of our new sound system. “Left & Right” isn’t enough for the biggest movies, as Atmos’ unique soundscape technology provides film artists the ability to shape cinemagoers’ experience by placing sounds anywhere in the auditorium.

*** Dolby Atmos immerses you in your favorite entertainment with sound that moves all around you with breathtaking realism.

Created for the cinema, Dolby Atmos® is an innovative audio technology, with sound that actually moves around you in an immersive soundscape. While sound recorded in stereo is limited to left and right channels, sound mixed in Dolby Atmos is freed from channels. Sound mixers can place individual sounds, so they move all around you. They can also decide the volume, size, and diffusion level of each voice, rustling leaf, or footstep to reveal nuanced details in the audio.
