Never Say Die: Ageless Adventures That Built THE BOROUGHS
DETAILS
In The Boroughs, a new supernatural series created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) and executive produced by The Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things), a grieving newcomer’s monstrous encounter In a seemingly perfect retirement community inspires him to join a misfit crew of unlikely heroes. They uncover a dark secret that proves their “golden years” are more dangerous, and these reluctant heroes are more formidable than anyone expects.
The iconic ensemble of The Boroughs includes Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, and Bill Pullman, who combine to form a team of action heroes unlike any other. To celebrate the series’ May 21st release on Netflix, the Paris Theater is proud to present Never Say Die: Ageless Adventures That Built The Boroughs, a two-week film collection specially curated by series creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews that contains their cinematic inspiration for The Boroughs. Never Say Die features some of cinema’s most memorable motley crews of eccentrics, young and old – underestimated heroes who assemble to fight against dangers that threaten their homes, their families and their lives, as well as friends whose bonds deepen and strengthen as they share an unforgettable adventure.
Whether it’s friends joining together to face the extraterrestrial (Cocoon, E.T., Signs), the monstrous (Fright Night, The Lost Boys, Poltergeist), or the unbelievable wonders hidden right under their backyards (The Goonies), all of the stories featured in this lineup reverberate through The Boroughs. Never Say Die: Ageless Adventures That Built The Boroughs also highlights inspirations that Addiss and Matthews draw from crime capers (Ocean’s Eleven) legendary on-the-run friendships (Thelma & Louise), and the eye-popping reality of Central Florida’s infamous retirement community The Villages in Lance Oppenheim’s documentary Some Kind of Heaven.
Film fans of all ages can enjoy these classics together at the Paris, including a special Memorial Day family-friendly program that includes The Dark Crystal, E.T. the Extra-terrestrial, The Goonies, and Super 8!
And as a special treat, the Paris will host a special, free-with-RSVP screening of the first episode of The Boroughs on Thursday, May 28 at 7 PM!
The Boroughs premieres on Netflix May 21. Watch the trailer HERE.
