The Paris Theater is proud to present our full lineup for the fourth annual Big & Loud, our flagship repertory series which has now been extended to five-and-a-half weeks of cinema's most unforgettable sensory experiences.  
 

Each summer, New Yorkers look to The Paris Theater, the city’s last remaining single-screen movie palace, for the theater’s ability to deliver state-of-the-art, immersive moviegoing experiences, with each uniquely theatrical presentation reveling either in the legendary visual power of 70mm, the all-encompassing aural design enabled by Dolby Atmos, or stories supercharged by sound design.  

We’re halfway into Big & Loud, and the response has been thunderous. Sold-out crowds for rare 70mm prints, Dolby Atmos soundtracks rattling the walls of the Paris, and even a special live musical performance from Bill Frisell!

We want to keep the party going, so The Paris Theater is happy to announce two special encore weeks of Big & Loud, extending through September 29! 
 

Some of our most popular titles will have new screenings added, including 70mm shows of Lawrence of Arabia, 2001: A Space Odyssey, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, Boogie Nights, Babylon, and The Master. We’re also bringing back shows of best-sellers like Michael Mann’s Heat, Bob Fosse’s All That Jazz, and Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner: The Final Cut in Dolby Atmos. 

And as a special treat, we’re adding a few new films to the mix:

• The 4K Restoration of Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon
• A 35mm screening of Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life
• A 35mm screening of David Lean’s The Bridge on the River Kwai
• Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World in Dolby Atmos

This year's series has been jam-packed with one-of-a-kind cinematic thrills, including:  
 

70mm Highlights

• The Big & Loud debuts of 70mm prints of West Side Story, Aliens, The Sound of Music, Batman, Inherent Vice, The Master, Babylon, and Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
• The first ever 70mm screening in New York City of Francis Ford Coppola’s One from the Heart (1981)
• The first NYC 70mm screenings in over 40 years of The Razor’s Edge (1984) starring Bill Murray and White Nights (1985) starring Mikhail Baryshnikov, Gregory Hines, and Isabella Rossellini.
• The return of The Paris Theater’s own pristine 70mm print of David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia, as well as 70mm prints of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Vertigo, Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood, Boogie Nights and Spartacus.  
   

Special guests:

• Sofia Coppola will join us for a Q&A following the New York premiere of a new 4K Restoration of Marie Antoinette, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
• Isabella Rossellini will appear for a Q&A following a rare 70mm screening of White Nights.
• Bob Dylan Center director Steven Jenkins returns to the Paris with Stepping Into the Unknown: Films from the Bob Dylan Center, featuring a new collection of rare and previously unreleased material from the Bob Dylan Archive, followed by a discussion with and live performance by award-winning musician Bill Frisell.  
   

Additional highlights:

• The East Coast premiere of a new 4K restoration of Martin Scorsese's New York, New York, and the New York premiere of a new 4K restoration of Panic Room approved by David Fincher.
• 9 films presented in Dolby Atmos, including the Lord of the Rings trilogy’s original theatrical versions, Back to the Future, Barbie, Blade Runner: The Final Cut, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Atomic Blonde.
• To celebrate Star Trek Day on September 8th, we will host a double feature of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (The Director's Edition in 4K & Dolby Atmos) and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (The Director's Cut).
• 35mm prints of two films with iconic soundtracks: Lynne Ramsay’s Morvern Callar starring Samantha Morton, and Louis Malle’s Elevator to the Gallows scored by Miles Davis.  
   

The series originally debuted in 2023 upon the historic Paris Theater's reopening to showcase its newly installed Dolby Atmos sound system and the technology to screen 70mm for the first time in fifteen years. With over 500 seats, Manhattan's last remaining single-screen theater also became its largest Atmos cinema.  
 

This year's edition of Big & Loud features 48 films, including 17 films on 70mm and 10 films presented with special Dolby Atmos sound mixes.
